Q: Tell us a little about yourself, do you ride, where are you located?
A: I’m Nick, I’m 23 years old, located in Georgia. I ride as often as I can, but any free chance, I’m building a bike or listing parts. During the summer it’s brutal to ride in the heat, so we’re finally entering the good riding season down here!
Q: What bike do you currently ride/favorite type of riding?
A: I ride a 2023 YZ250F and a 2003 KX125 that has way too much money into it. I used to live up north and grew up riding at Southwick, so I love riding sandy tracks. 9 times out of 10 I'll be on the track, but lately I’ve been getting back into GNCC/woods riding.
Q: When did you start selling dirt bike parts and gear online? When was Presidential MX started?
A: Presidential MX was started in August 2022. I started parting out some older bikes I found for cheap on Marketplace, realized there was some money in it, and put everything I had into it ever since. Constant reinvesting into yourself and calculated risks always pay off.
Q: What made you realize there was an opportunity to sell parts and gear?
A: I was doing a RM125 build and had some parts I wasn’t planning on using. I listed them and to my surprise, they all sold really quick. I decided against the build and parted that 125 out. From that moment, I knew there was something here.
Q: What's your favorite part about being in the dirt bike industry?
A: First, the people I’ve gotten to meet and work with is hands down the best part. Being able to meet guys I used to watch on TV is pretty cool. Being able to work in an industry I love AND have a career at the same time is priceless, 8 year old me is living his dream.
Q: Most expensive item you've ever sold or the craziest story you've had in the business?
A: I won’t speak about any sales, there’s been some decent ones, but the craziest story is when I was scrolling on Marketplace at 3:30 in the morning, not expecting i’d find anything. I refreshed the page and the first square was a beautiful 2023 YZ250F, blown up but fully there, for 600$. I immediately messaged him, lowballed, then told him I could get it first thing in the morning.
To my surprise he said, “yes, bring some more cash, I have a few bikes to get rid of.” That morning I drove out into deep Georgia. For those of you that don’t know, there’s nothing out there, besides the Dollar General. Now I'm driving for 10-15 minutes down a dirt road, passing maybe 4 houses total, low and behold, like a castle on the hill sat the most beautiful shop I had ever seen. I went from grabbing my firearm to grabbing my jaw off the floor. We ended up talking for quite some time. Cool guy, just wanted a ton of land to ride on with no one around (same dude). Ultimately, I cleared out all the bikes he had, along with a 14 ft trailer loaded with parts to the ceiling. Taught me that some of the best deals might look like the biggest murder set up of all time.
Q: Do you specialize in any manufacturers or brands?
A: Yes, I specialize mostly in Yamaha. Main reason is because it’s the most popular bike, so demand for parts is high and the other is because I ride a YZ250F and enjoy having cool parts for it. I’m also a dealer for some amazing companies such as Guts Racing, Pro Circuit, AEKTIV, and Dubya to name a few.
Q: How can we keep up to date with what parts are coming to MX Locker?
A: The best way to keep up to date with parts would be to follow us on MxLocker, every new part sends out a notification. I know we’ve got some followers that jump on deals quickly and I appreciate that. Follow the instagram @presidential.mx where we post daily deals and content as parts come through the door.
Q: What’s the biggest piece of advice you can give a fellow rider in the dirt bike community?
A: My biggest piece of advice to fellow riders is to buy quality parts/gear. Don’t cheap out on something like wheels or helmets. Spend the money once, and thank yourself later. $1000 on a helmet or $100,000 surgery. Ride safe, Ride hard, Buy parts.
