The Scorpion EXO-R1 Air Carbon Helmet takes the brand's premier track-spec helmet and sprinkles some carbon fiber goodness to raise the bar. Tested and designed to meet the demands of Moto GP and World Superbike, the EXO-R1 Air Carbon brings top tier helmet tech to everyone from the hardened track day vet to a sport touring leisure rider. The resin-infused TCT-U 3K carbon shell provides aircraft-grade impact dispersal properties thanks to the light yet strong carbon fiber weave. Sharing the same shape as the R1 Air, this helmet has been tuned aerodynamically for reduced drag and lift. Scorpion has added a central locking mechanism to the face shield, which compliments their proprietary Ellip-Tec The Ellip-Tec Ratchet System uses an elliptical motion, creating 7.6mm of travel pulling the shield securely against the eyeport, thus ensuring a proper seal. Ellip-Tec is a 100% tool-less changing system. ratcheting hinge system - to guarantee an uncompromising seal at even the highest speeds. On the inside, a multi-density EPS liner Expanded polystyrene (EPS) is a rigid, energy absorbing foam. In the helmet industry, EPS is the most common means of energy management to protect the brain. Generic EPS is often referred to as “Styrofoam” (a trademarked name owned by the Dow Chemical Company). Premium helmet producers utilize multi-density EPS liners to balance comfort, safety and performance. with channels to guide airflow is fed from a large ram-air intake vent at the front and aided by four exhaust ports at the rear. Scorpion's AirFit Scorpion's AirFit cheek pad inflation system allows you to obtain a personalized fit by pumping the air inflation ball located at the chin bar or near the rear of the helmet. To release the air, simply push the quick-air release. AirFit makes it easy to create a truly tailored helmet fit. system enables a uniquely customized fit for improved comfort and noise isolation.
