Light on mass but not on protection, the GP Pro Helmet from Troy Lee Designs comes equipped with Mips® safety system How does the Mips® safety system work? The brain is typically more sensitive to rotational motion than linear motion because it has shear properties similar to water or gel. When different parts of the brain move relative to each other because of rotational motion, the tissues can stretch, which can cause concussions or other brain injuries. Rotational motion is a common cause of concussions and more severe brain injury in oblique hits to the head. The Mips® safety system consists of a low friction layer mounted inside the helmet. In a crash, the low friction layer is designed to move slightly inside the helmet to help redirect forces away from the head. This is intended to help reduce the risk of brain injury. , 3D cheek pads designed for emergency removal, break-away plastic visor screws, and an EPP-lined chin bar. Packing a ton of ventilation, the GP Pro keeps riders cool with 16 intake ports channeling airflow through 6 exhaust ports. For light weight, comfort and safety, Troy Lee GP Pro always takes a spot on the podium.
