The EXO-R1 Air Helmet reigns as the Scorpion's premier track-spec helmet. Tested and refined on the racecourse, the EXO-R1 Air brings a host of winning features to all styles of road riding.  Debuting the Ultra-TCT shell, the EXO-R1 Air utilizes a unique blend of fiberglass that promises high strength, low weight and leading impact dispersal. The shape of this helmet has been tuned aerodynamically for reduced drag and lift. Scorpion has added a central locking mechanism to the face shield, which compliments their proprietary Ellip-Tec The Ellip-Tec Ratchet System uses an elliptical motion, creating 7.6mm of travel pulling the shield securely against the eyeport, thus ensuring a proper seal. Ellip-Tec is a 100% tool-less changing system. ratcheting hinge system - to guarantee an uncompromising seal at even the highest speeds. On the inside, a multi-density EPS liner Expanded polystyrene (EPS) is a rigid, energy absorbing foam. In the helmet industry, EPS is the most common means of energy management to protect the brain. Generic EPS is often referred to as “Styrofoam” (a trademarked name owned by the Dow Chemical Company). Premium helmet producers utilize multi-density EPS liners to balance comfort, safety and performance. with channels to guide airflow is fed from a large ram-air intake vent at the front and aided by four exhaust ports at the rear. Scorpion's AirFit Scorpion's AirFit cheek pad inflation system allows you to obtain a personalized fit by pumping the air inflation ball located at the chin bar or near the rear of the helmet.
