Biltwell Gringo S ECE Helmet

The Gringo S by Biltwell has upped its protection game and now includes ECE certification while still paying homage to a style your mommy and daddy would have worn. The Gringo S ECE Helmet is built around Biltwell's injection-molded ABS outer shell and features a shock-absorbing EPS liner Expanded polystyrene (EPS) is a rigid, energy absorbing foam. In the helmet industry, EPS is the most common means of energy management to protect the brain. Generic EPS is often referred to as “Styrofoam” (a trademarked name owned by the Dow Chemical Company). Premium helmet producers utilize multi-density EPS liners to balance comfort, safety and performance. with hand-stitched interior padding, cheek pads, and BioFoam chin bar cushion for comfort. A hinged eye port shield raises the style and function of the Gringo S by introducing 70's F1 flavor for bike riders who eschew the feature creep that has plagued modern full face helmets for decades. The Gringo S shield boasts awesome optics and simple hinge mechanics for high style and easy removal for replacement or cleaning. A snap and tab configuration on the rider's left side offers speedy opening and secure closing to protect its wearer from road debris and wind irritation with little fanfare or complication. Speaker pockets let you pop in your favorite communication device and talk to your buddies or just let the music flow.

Fit:

• This helmet has a round shape, with more room on the sides and less room in the forehead area. This helmet may not be suitable for riders with longer head shapes

Safety:

• DOT and  ECE 22.05 The ECE 22.05 (Economic Commission for Europe) standard is quite a bit younger than the current DOT standard, and in many ways offers a more comprehensive battery of testing than its American cousin. ECE standards test for safety features that can contribute to avoiding an accident altogether, such as the optical quality of approved face shields and safety factors not directly related to impact, such as shell rigidity. Unlike the DOT, every ECE 22.05 certified helmet model must actually be tested against the standard by an independent lab before it is available for sale with an ECE sticker.  approved
